MARIVELES, Bataan — A driver died while his helper was injured when the truck
they were riding allegedly lost its brakes and rammed into a house and other
structures along the Bypass Road here before noon of Monday.
Lt. Colonel Emelito M. Dela Cruz, Mariveles police chief, said dump truck driver
Ariel De Guzman, 52, of San Isidro, Nueva Ecija, died on the spot. Truck helper
Alex Pascual, 45, also from San Isidro, was rushed to the Maheseco Hospital in
Mariveles.
The truck was travelling towards the direction of Barangay Baseco, Mariveles
when its brakes reportedly malfunctioned and crushed into a culvert and a house
that caused the death of the driver while his helper sustained injuries.
The culvert, house and the dump truck were heavily damaged. No one was hurt in
the house.
