GAPAN CITY – A second local chief executive of Nueva Ecija is currently under
quarantine after testing positive for the coronavirus disease.
"Happy lunch, mga Batang Gapan. Kamusta na kayo?” posted Mayor Joy Pascual
of this city in her social media page.
"Ako miss ko ng lumabas pero kailangan magpalakas at mag-quarantine,"
Pascual added as she gave an update on some infrastructure projects, particularly
the construction of a cross drain canal from Barangay San Lorenzo here.
In a live video post, Pascul earlier announced her condition and called on the
public to continue to observe public health standards.
Pascual said she initially tested negative in an antigen test.
"Ang akala normal na trangkaso. Nung magpa-antigen ako ay negative naman.
Kaya lang po nung lumipas ang mga ilang araw, napansin ko masama pa rin yung
pakiramdam ko," she narrated. That was the time she decided to take an RT-PCR
test which yielded positive results, she added.
Informed by city physician that her symptoms were mild because she got fully
vaccinated, the mayor encouraged her constituents to make sure they get the
shot.
"Magpabakuna po kayo, magpa-booster po kayo," she said.
The mayor missed the League of Cities' seminar at Crown Plaza in Manila last July
21-22 because of her quarantine.
Earlier, Rizal Mayor Trina Andres also had to undergo quarantine after testing
positive for Covid-19.
