CABANATUAN CITY – A tricycle driver who reportedly turned into a big-time
peddler of illegal drugs yielded P374,000-worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation
in Barangay Camp Tinio here at about 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
Lt. Col. Karl Omar Fiel, city police chief, identified the suspect as Vladimir Garcia,
50, resident of the said village.
Fiel said the operation against Garcia was conducted by the elements of Special
Operations Unit 1 PNP Drug Enforcement Group and intelligence unit in
coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
An undercover policeman managed to buy two sachets of the substance from the
suspect using marked bills, the official said, adding that upon arrest, the suspect
yielded 15 more sachets of shabu.
Facing charges of violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs
Law, the suspect is detained at the police’s custodial facility here.
