CABANATUAN CITY – A Nueva Ecija publisher and songwriter who composed at least 21 of Nora Aunor’s hit songs lauded the latter’s inclusion to the Order of the National Artists (ONA) of the Philippines, citing the contribution of the country’s only “Superstar” in advancing Filipino culture.

“Ang pagga-gawad ng parangal sa kanya ay tumutugon sa mga nai-ambag niya sa sining,” said Prof. Roberto Medina, adding that her songs continue to uplift the spirit of Filipinos abroad through a collection created by Amazon.

Among Medina’s composition sung by Aunor are It’s Time To Say Goodbye, I Love You So, You Don’t Love Me Anymore, Just a Bit of Your Love, Mistaken, Because You’re Gone, My Life is You, Crazy Feeling, Lucky Girl, Dee-Da-Doo-Dee, It’s in Your Heart, The End of Our Love, There’s Music Everywhere, I Wonder Why, Cupid, It’s in Your Heart, All I Own, The End of Our Love, Now and Then, Never Shed a Tear, and Dream Boy.

President Duterte named Aunor along with Marilou Diaz-Abaya as new ONA members for Film/Broadcast Arts, Fides Cuyugan-Asensio for Music, Ricardo Lee and Gemino Abad for Literature, Tony Mabesa for Theather, Agnes Locsin for Dance, and Salvacion Lim Higgins for Fashion.

“Kung titingnan ang mga komentaryo sa social media ng maraming Pilipino sa buong mundo ay malalaman natin ang nagawa ni Nora sa pagpapa-laganap ng kulturang Pilipino,” Medina added.

For a few who bank on Aunor’s negative side, Medina said: “Ako ay matagal na naging guro at kapag ako ay nag-check ng examination paper ng isang estudyante ay wala akong iniisip na ibang personal na bagay.”
