CLARK FREEPORT- The Tollways Management Corp. ((TMC) released yesterday list of “critical” interchanges along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx), directing motorists on where to turn amid tens of thousands of Northern Luzon folk expected to join the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) centennial anniversary on July 27.

“We expect attendees to arrive at the Philippine Arena starting in the evening of July 25,” the TMC said in its advisory yesterday. The TMC said that “to manage the volume of vehicles, additional toll personnel will be deployed in the affected plazas.”

“Additional traffic management and security personnel will be deployed at strategic areas including the Philippine Arena compound and at the interchanges critical to the event and there are designated U-turn slots for the attendees,” it added.

TMC’s advisory also said that “delegates coming from the North going to the Philippine Arena will turn at the Smart Connect Interchange (Mindanao Avenue Link Interchange),” while “those leaving the Philipine Arena and are Manila-bound will turn at the Tabang or Balagtas Interchanges at the designated U-turn slots just after the toll plaza exits.”

“Parking of vehicles will be at the local roads near the Philippine Arena vicinity. Critical areas at NLEx especially from Meycauayan to Bocaue northbound will be declared as a tow-away zone during the event so as not to impede the traffic flow for our motorists,” the advisory added.

TMC also noted that “to ensure the smooth traffic flow in the area and in the nearby communities, NLEx management has been closely coordinating with the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).”

Road works in NLEx have been suspended since July 16 in preparation for the event unless safety repair is required.

Road works and maintenance will resume on August 4, it added. “Motorists are advised to plan their trips ahead of time for this period,” TMC also said. TMC also noted that “for traffic advisories they can check the NLEx Twitter account @nlextraffic and the Facebook page Travel On Great Roads.”

They may also visit the North Luzon Integrated Guide and Travel Advisory System or NLigtas atwww.tollways.net.ph, it added, noting that it also has a mobile application which can be downloaded using smart phones. For other inquiries or assistance they may call (02) 580-8910, (02) 3-5000 for NLEX and (0920) 9672839 for SCTEx related concerns; these hotlines are available 24 hours a day, TMC added.
