CLARK FREEPORT – The Social Security System has fast tracked the digitalization efforts of its services, most especially its benefits, to make it more convenient to its members at the time of the pandemic.

This was disclosed by SSS Luzon Central 2 Division vice president Gloria Corazon Andrada during the News@Hues media forum organized by the Pampanga Press Club at the Park Inn Hotel by Radisson Clark on Tuesday.

Andrada was accompanied by SSS Angeles City branch manager Normie Cruz who said online transactions, especially salary loans, are now available online.

Andrada said SSS has seven benefits for its members, namely sickness, maternity, disability, retirement, funeral, death, and unemployment.

With the exception of death benefits, all are now available with online transactions.

Cruz said online transactions for salary loans and unemployment benefits are now being availed of.

SSS Unemployment Insurance, also known as Involuntary Separation Reward, is a financial benefit given to SSS members who have been unwillingly separated from their jobs since March 5, 2019. The unemployment benefit is a one-time payment equal to 50% of the monthly wage for a maximum of two months.

However, retiree pensioners can now make online filing of pension loans over-the-counter including initial applicants.

Andrada said “it’s also much easier to pay monthly contributions now with the advent of financial technology like GCash.”
