Suspect in convenience stores robbery killed

ANGELES CITY – A man wanted for a series of robberies on convenience stores in Pampanga and listed as Top 1 Most Wanted in the province was killed in an armed encounter with the police here Thursday.

In his report to Pampanga police director Col. Alvin Ruby Consolacion, Mabalacat City police chief Lt. Col. Heryl Bruno said joint elements of the city police, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Pampanga, regional intelligence division-PRO3, provincial intelligence unit-Pampanga, and Angeles City Police Office, were serving a warrant of arrest on arrest on Derick Castillo, legal age, of No.5416 Visayas St., Jaoville Compound, Barangay Pandan, Angeles City, when he resisted and fired upon them.

This prompted the law enforcers to return fire resulting to the death of the suspect.

Recovered from the suspect were a Beretta 9mm pistol, ammunition, seven 9mm fired cartridge, two plastic sachets of shabu and a cellphone.

Police said the suspect was a notorious member of a robbery gang involved in a series of robberies of convenience stores in Pampanga and nearby provinces with standing warrants of arrest for robbery with violence against person

under CC# R-ANG-22-00847-CR issued by Presiding Judge Irineo Pineda Pangilinan Jr. of RTC Branch 58, Angeles City dated March 31, 2022 witth recommended bail of P100,000.
