CLARK FREEPORT — Clark Development Corporation (CDC) congratulated the Manila Water Company, Inc. (MWCI) on its recognition as the “Water Company of the Year” at the recent Global Water Awards 2022 in Madrid, Spain.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, CDC commended Manila Water and cited the company’s commitment in providing quality water services.

“The Clark Development Corporation congratulates the Manila Water Company Inc. – the mother company of our trusted water concessionaire partner, Clark Water Corporation – on being named the Water Company of the Year at the Global Water Awards 2022. May you continue to provide high-quality and dependable water services across the country,” the state-owned corporation said.

In a separate message, Manila Water Chief Operating Officer Melvin John Tan shared their achievement to CDC and to their other partner firms.

“The Water Company of the Year award, without a doubt, would not have been possible without your support. On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team, we humbly share this award with you and we look forward to continued partnership with CDC, as we aspire to become a Global Filipino Water Company rooted in our purpose of providing better lives and resilient economies through critical infrastructure. Thank you again for your support,” he said.

Manila Water clinched the highest honor and bested three other internationally renowned water companies such as Aqualia, the third largest private water company in Europe and seventh in the world; Metito, the Middle East pioneer of desalination plants in Egypt; and leading French water company Saur with operations in 20 countries worldwide.

Additionally, Manila Water also became the first water company from the Philippines and from any developing country, to be given the highly-coveted distinction from the Global Water Awards.

Founded by the Global Water Intelligence (GWI) in 2006, the Global Water Awards recognizes the most important achievements in the international water industry within several categories, and reward those initiatives in the water, wastewater and desalination sectors that are moving the industry forward through improved operating performance, innovative technology adoption and sustainable financial models.

This year’s Global Water Awards ceremony was held in La Quinta De Jarama in Madrid, Spain and was conducted as part of the Global Water Summit, the major business conference for the water industry worldwide.
