SAMAL, Bataan – As the sun rose on Thursday, a familiar song during the administration of the late President Ferdinand Marcos, Sr. blurted through interconnected sound system along different sitios of an agricultural village here.
Through loud speakers, the song “Bagong Lipunan” was repeatedly played from the barangay hall of Sta. Lucia and transmitted to the sitios.
The song revived by Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos in his campaign was played in the barangay a day after the late President’s son and running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte were proclaimed in the joint session of congress.
Senators and congressmen acting as the national board of canvassers proclaimed Marcos Wednesday as duly elected President with total votes of more than 31 million and Duterte as new Vice President garnering more than 32 million votes.
Sta. Lucia barangay chairman Ruperto Forbes confided that every time he hears the song since his childhood, “Dala ng aking damdamin, bumabangon ang isang pag-asa na siyang mag-aangat sa kalagayan ng ating ekonomiya.”
He said that with the smooth and orderly proclamation of the two highest leaders, it is already a sign of unity that will bring success to the new administration.
Let us face the reality that we have new leaders,” the punong barangay said.
