BALANGA CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry on Thursday opened its Diskwento Caravan at the Plaza Mayor here, reviving the project in Bataan of offering products for sale at much discounted prices that temporarily stopped for more than two years due to the pandemic.
Nelin Cabahug, DTI provincial director, said for sale are various products from 53 participating micro entrepreneurs who are offering different items for sale at a minimum of 10 percent discount.
“Gusto naming maiangat, mabuhay sila, to bring back better ang negosyo ng mga micro entrepreneurs at in time para sa balik-eskwela kaya itong Diskwento Caravan ay Balik-Eskwela Diskwento Caravan,” she said.
Cabahug said that they wanted to help the businessmen who have been affected heavily by the pandemic brought by the coronavirus disease while at the same time offering good quality products at cheap cost to the residents.
She said that among those for sale are shoes, bags, school supplies and clothes for children in time for the opening of classes.
Cabahug said that before the pandemic, DTI has been conducting two runs of the Diskwento Caravan and which it will again be revived starting this Thursday – one is the balik eskwela caravan like today and the other on November for the Christmas season.
“Ang target namin ay P1 million sales para sa dalawang caravan kaya kung hahatiin ay tig-P500,000 na ang magbe-benefit ay 1,500 households at matutulungan din ang mga micro entrepreneurs,” the provincial director said.
“So again, buy local, then support local producers. Muli, inaanyayahan namin kayo na please come and buy sa ating dalawang araw na Diskwento Caravan na magrurun ng May 19-20, 8am-5pm,” Cabahug asked residents.
