ANGELES CITY, Pampanga – The city government under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. purchased a new crematorium machine which is set to be installed this week.
This was also confirmed by Phillip Samson, Office Head of the Public Cemetery and Crematorium.
This initiative, funded by the local government, is to lessen the outlays of indigent Angeleño families during the death of a loved one.
Located at Barangay Sapalibutad, the additional machine will be able to help indigent families in the 33 barangays.
In fact, Samson shared, the Angeles City Public Cemetery is able to extend their services to indigent families with applicable Persons with Disabilities, Senior Citizen, and other discounts.
For additional assistance, the city is also providing free caskets and discounts in columbarium use for indigent residents. Citizens only have to provide valid documents declaring that they are residents of Angeles City in order to avail these services.
“Kailangan lang po ng Death Certificate, Barangay Certificate of Indigency, and CSWDO Reference,” Samson claimed.
The crematorium machine will also be a great help as well for the cemetery, increasing the cremation it can do a day. This will aid the one existing machine in the facility.
According to Samson, the machine is able to cater five bodies maximum a day. However, they do not want to push the machine to the limit as to maintain its functionality.
“Actually, kaya po ang five [bodies] a day, pero ayaw naman nating isagad since mayroon pang isang existing [na crematorium machine],” he said.
As mentioned, the machine will be installed by Wednesday or Thursday. By then, finishing touches and test cremations will be made before it can be opened for the public.
