CABANATUAN CITY – “Babawi kami!”
Thus, chanted an audience estimated at 50,000 wd as presidential bet Vice Pres. Leni Robredo told them she was somehow afraid of the possible outcome of her team’s grand rally here Tuesday.
Robredo asked to which the crowd answered “Yes!”
They then chanted “Babawi kami! Babawi kami!” before she could recall before them her loss to rival former Sen. Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. in Nueva Ecija in the vice presidential race.
“Kaya medyo kabado akong bumalik ngayon, kasi sabi ko baka pareho pa rin ng 2016,” she said.
“Hindi na!” the crowd answered followed by chanting of “Walang solid north.”
The rally held at the Nueva Ecija High School oval here was dubbed “Masaganang aNEhan” or bountiful harvest with the initials of the province in bold letters.
In her speech, Robredo asked the supporters to look for a “resibo” or proof whenever a politician comes to woo their votes.
She likened it to suitors who would want to win a woman’s heart: “Huwag lang po basta pakinggan yung sinasabi. Tanungin ninyo, nasaan ka nung kailangan kita?” Robredo said.
She also asked them to dismantle fake news but “with radical love.”
