ANGELES CITY — Department of Health Secretary Dr. Francisco Duque III praised the vaccination drive of the local government here with its established prompt strategy.

“Napakabilis at napakaganda ng sistema ng pagbabakuna ninyo dito sa Angeles City,” said Duque to Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, together with Nurse Supervisor Evelinda Mariano.

Calaguas and Manuel represented Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. during the visit of Sec. Duque at the three-day vaccination drive of the city, joining the national government’s vaccination day from March 10 to 12, 2022.

Duque also personally administered vaccines to children aged 5 to 11 who were scheduled to receive their first dose of vaccines.

Some 11,293 kids under the age group have already been given first dose of vaccines.

Calaguas said, the city owes the fast-tracking of the vaccination drive to the 400 staff working non-stop to deliver the vaccine.

To recall, the Department of the Interior and Local Government announced on November 2021 that Angeles City was one of the Highly Urbanized Cities to first achieve herd immunity.

Angeles City is also the the Local Government Unit which launched a blended vaccination scheme — the Ronda Bakuna sa Barangay and the Sundo Bakuna sa Barangay.

The Ronda Bakuna sa Barangay is the delivery of vaccination service right at the doorsteps of Angeleño families, while the Sundo Bakuna literally takes kababayans to the city’s two mega vaccination sites with free services being provided — six Philippine Rabbit buses and 10 jeepneys.

This strategy was also commended by the World Health Organization.

To date, 370,085 Angeleños already received their first dose; 337,423 are fully vaccinated; while 64,318 got their booster shots.
