CABANATUAN CITY — A Nueva Ecija representative has expressed hope that President Duterte will call for a special session of Congress to tackle the temporary suspension of excise tax in petroleum products.
3rd District Rep. Rosanna Vergara said the proposed suspension of such tax is necessary to cushion the impact of soaring prices.
“Mahirap, pero ito’y kailangan na hakbang,” Vergara, a pillar of PDP-Laban said.
She noted that only the president can call for a special session.
The lady solon who pushes for a magna carta for tricycle drivers meanwhile lauded the move of the government including these drivers for assistance.
Vergara joined the signing of peace covenant for a secure, accurate and free elections on Tuesday vowing that her family will continue to extend support to the people of the district as much as they can.
“Hangga’t kaya,” she said, noting however that it can no longer be done by March 25, when the campaign period for local elections officially starts.
