CLARK FREEPORT – Just as the body of a missing mountaineer was found in Cuenca, Batangas, yet another body, this time of a mountain bike rider, was spotted by the police in a deep ravine in Barangay Naugsol in Subic, Zambales, after he went missing during the Subic Adventure Race last Sunday.

PO1 Marylou Samson said no details were yet available, but confirmed that the body of mountain bike rider Arnold Suero was found in a deep ravine in Barangay Naugsol yesterday after his wife reported him missing last Monday.

Police report said the victim was declared missing only after his wife called up his office to ask whether he had reported to work on Monday after the previous day’s race.  She then sought police help.

Organizers of the Subic Adventure Race also did not notice him missing after the race, but helped police in search operations upon learning he was missing.

Samson described Barangay Naugsol as mountainous with deep ravines. She, however, could not say whether the case of Suero was a mere accident, noting that probers still had to retrieve the victim’s body from the ravine as of yesterday afternoon.

She also could not say whether Suero’s mountain bike was also found together with the victim’s body which was identified by one of his cousins.

Only recently, the body of mountaineer Victor Joel Ayson was also found off a cliff in Mt. Maculot in Cuenca, Batangas after he went on a solo hike last Easter Sunday.
