SAMAL, Bataan — Presidentiable Isko Moreno stormed a city and two towns in Bataan in a long motorcade Wednesday where the Manila mayor considered what is happening in Ukraine as a wake-up call for the Philippines.

Asked what he considered as lesson learned from the Ukraine crisis, Moreno said that the country should always be prepared.

“Ang paghahanda ang importante lalo na ang posibleng mangyari na hindi naman natin pinapangarap o iniisip na mangyari pero maigi na maging handa,” the mayor said in a short interview.

Moreno said he was worried the problem might spread to Taiwan where there are 150,000 Filipinos.

“What transpired in Ukraine should be a wake-up call na dapat meron tayong paghahanda,” he said.

Moreno said the Department of Foreign Affairs was doing the right thing but he repeatedly asked that there should be preparations if the Taiwan crisis erupts.

In a message to a big number of supporters in Samal town led by mayoral bet Alex Acuzar and vice-mayoral candidate Jun Espino, Moreno considered governing as only simple.

Vice presidential hopeful Dr. Willy Ong and senatoriables Samira Gutoc and Jopet Sison joined Moreno in Bataan.
