CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Seven towns and two cities in Nueva Ecija, including the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) will experience a nine-hour blackout on July 12.

This bulletin was issued yesterday by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) which said the power outage would last from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

NGCP communication and public affairs officer Lilibeth Gaydowen identified the affected cities of San Jose and Munoz where the CLSU is located, and the municipalities of Quezon, Licab, Guimba, Talugtog, Lupao, Pantabangan and Caranglan.

These areas are serviced by distribution utilities (DUs) Nueva Ecija II Electric Cooperative Inc. (Neeco II) Area I of Muñoz, Guimba, Quezon, Caranglan and Aliaga Substation and San Jose Electric Cooperative (Sajelco), Gaydowen said.

“The DU’s determine the specific cities and municipalities affected by the power interruption, unless the activity affects the entire franchise area. They also allot the available power within its franchise area and implements the power interruption schedule among the end-users,” she explained.

“This interruption is to facilitate substation and maintenance works as part of Luzon Substation Expansion Project I in preparation for the energization of new 300-megavolt ampere (MVA) transformer No. 1 at Cabanatuan Substation,” she added.

She said electricity would be restored at 5 p.m. when maintenance work is expected to be finished. “NGCP’s customers and the general public are advised to take the necessary preparations and precautions for this scheduled interruption,” she added.
