Palayan City Mayor Adrianne Mae Cuevas, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte
CABANATUAN CITY – The Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino-Laban Nueva Ecija led by its gubernatorial bet Palayan City Mayor Adrianne Mae Cuevas threw its support to the vice presidential bid of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Thursday.
Cuevas who hosted a meeting between senatorial aspirants Robin Padilla and Greco Belgica and PDP-Laban’s provincial and municipal bets said the presidential daughter is “the best choice for the nation’s second top post.”
“Sa presidente, wait lang po tayo,” she said.
Duterte is running under the ticket of former Sen. Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.
Cuevas, the party’s national treasurer, used to support the presidential bid of Sen. Bong Go who recently withdrew officially from the race.
Belgica, for his part, said his party Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS ) also awaits for the announcement of Pres. Duterte as to who he will support in the 2022 presidential battle.
“Kung sinuman, yun po ang napagdesisyunan ng partido at mga alliances, kung sinuman ang i-endorso mg Pangulo ay siyang susuportahan namin,” Belgica said.
He declined to give any hint but said it will never be from the “kontrabidas.” “I would say ‘yung mga kontrabida sa kanya,” Belgica said without naming names.
Padilla called on the people of Nueva Ecija to upscale the battle against corruption and not engage in violence.
Padilla ran and lost for vice governor of Nueva Ecija in 1995.
“Ang violence po, ang karahasan dapat ay kalimutan na ‘yan dito sa bayan ng Nueva Ecija. Dapat po ang mangyari ngayon dito sa atin…pag-unlad,” Padilla said.
