Who and what do we concern ourselves with in our daily lives? Perhaps office, vacations, trips, movies, new electronic gadgets, party this weekend, a night out on Friday. Every now and then, family and church?
It’s normally such things that come in circles until finally, age tilts us and we find our predilections shifting to what’s more sedate and sedentary. And spiritual, as we find more funerals than weddings and baptisms among folk our age.
But these days, many people in senior years remain inclined towards the pragmatism and immediacy of the saying “life is short” which is really to say, go ahead and indulge because there are still unfound pleasures open even to folk wizened and dragged by gout and rheumatism.
It’s the same philosophy adopted by young movie stars who preach the gospel “Learn to love yourself” on television talk shows, usually by those who had seen broken marriages and, surviving, determines that- after all the partying, the fame, and the wealth- they never really loved themselves enough and so should do so with more passion thereon.
That thinking used to dominate my life for a long time but there was, at some point, a gravitating towards some sobriety that has stayed for some time now, thanks to events in this world that by any measure of reason and even science, confirm the spiritual.
Yes, you guessed it. I am resuming my series on supernatural issues which is my way of countering the preaching “life is too short” as against everlasting (Jesus told an Italian man recently that once a person is born on earth, he will exist forever) and against the gospel of loving oneself as against loving oneself through others (the Golden Rule).

Last March 18, Medjugorje visionary Mirjana Dragicevic-Soldo experienced her annual apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary., March 18, 2012.
Mirjana used to have daily apparition,s from June 24, 1981 to December 25, 1982. During the last daily apparition, the Blessed Mother gave her the 10th secret, and told her that she would appear to her once a year, every 18th of March.
Last March 18, thousands were present during the apparition to Mirjana. The apparition lasted five minutes.
The following were the words of our Blessed Mother:
"Dear children! I am coming among you because I desire to be your mother – your intercessor. I desire to be the bond between you and the Heavenly Father – your mediatrix.
I desire to take you by the hand and to walk with you in the battle against the impure spirit. My children, consecrate yourselves to me completely.
I will take your lives into my motherly hands and I will teach them peace and love, and then I will give them over to my Son.
I am asking of you to pray and fast because only in this way will you know how to witness my Son in the right way through my motherly heart. Pray for your shepherds that, united in my Son, they can always joyfully proclaim the Word of God. Thank you."
