GEN. TINIO, Nueva Ecija – Two persons were killed, three were wounded while three were arrested in a bloody hacking fight over an old grudge among relatives at about 6:30 p.m. in Barangay Concepcion here on Sunday.
Town police chief Major Ronnie Caagbay identified the fatalities as Eric Manuel, 46, resident of the said village, and Gilbert Cuevas,Jr., 26, of Padre Burgos, Cabanatuan City. Both were declared dead upon arrival in a hospital in San Leonardo town.
Among those wounded who were being treated at the Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center in Cabanatuan City were John Kevin Cuevas, Erlinda Cuevas, 29, both of Padre Crisostomo, Cabanatuan City; and Jervy Lorenzo, 28, of Rio Chico this municipality.
Erlinda only tried to pacify the relatives but was also hit by one of the suspects, police said.
The suspects were identified as Teodoro German, Marvin German, Gerardo Manuel, and Antonio Manuel, Jr., all residents of Barangay Concepcion here.
Investigation disclosed that the victim Manuel and his group were having a snack with some other relatives when John Kevin passed by and allegedly told the former “brad, tapusin na natin ito, babalikan ko kayo.”
A few moments after, the group of Teodoro German armed with bolos, arrived on board a tricycle and “immediately attacked and hacked the Manuel brothers prompting them to retaliate,” police said.
The Manuels were also armed with bolos, investigation showed.
Gerardo Manuel was the one who hacked and killed Cuevas, Jr while Antonio Manuel hacked Teodoro and Marvin German and killed Eric Manuel, investigation also disclosed.
Caagbay explained that attackers from both sides were listed as suspects.
Arrested in the follow-up operations were Marvin German and Gerardo and Antonio Manuel.
Charges of murder, frustrated homicide, and serious physical injuries were being filed against the suspects.
