Globe’s goal to provide more provinces with reliable and accessible connectivity received a massive boost with the installation of additional cell sites and completion of network upgrades in Pampanga.
As of September 2021, the company has built 26 new cell sites located in strategic towns and cities all over the province. It also upgraded 377 sites to the new standard of mobile data which is 4G LTE, from the old 3G network.
“Pampanga is a very crucial area in our network rollout. In addition to better serving our customers in the area, Pampanga is also our gateway to Central Luzon. By installing new cell towers and completing network upgrades, we can expand further to include other provinces not only in Region 2 but also to other locations in the North,” said Joel Agustin, Globe Senior Vice President for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group.
Pampanga has been one of the priority areas for network roll out and expansion by Globe. Recent network builds have made it possible for better call, text and data browsing for Globe customers in the entire province. Customers in the province were among those who noted significant network experience in recent months.
“This network modernization will hopefully create more opportunities for our cabalens as more and more people become more dependent on connectivity not only in Metro Manila and other highly-urbanized areas. Pampanga is full of potential for start-ups and we can help potential companies gain a foothold of our technology and services,” added Agustin.
Globe strongly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically UN SDG No. 9, which aims to build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation. The company is committed to upholding the United Nations Global Compact principles and 10 UN SDGs.
