CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The  Civil Service Commission (CSC) here announced yesterday it is still accepting applications for the second and last “Career Service Professional and Subprofessional Paper and Pencil Tests” for this year.

The CSC said the deadline for submission of applications has been set to Sept. 1.

There will be 36 venues nationwide for the examinations to be held simultaneously on Oct. 1, the CSC also announced.

However, passers of the bar examinations and the Professional Regulation Commission-administered tests, as well as those who graduated with honors,  need not apply as they are granted with automatic eligibility, the CSC noted.

The examinations are required for employment in government. The CSC said the tests are for Filipino citizens aged 18 years old and above who are of good moral character, have neither been found guilty of an offense involving moral turpitude nor have been dishonourably dismissed from any civilian position in the government and have not taken the same level of CSC examination in less than three months before Oct. 1.

The CSC said the examinations shall consist of the following subject areas for the professional level: verbal  (40 items), analytical  (50 items), numerical  (40 items) and general information (20 items).

In the subprofessional level, the subject areas include: verbal (45 items), clerical (40 items), numerical (40 items) and general information (20 items).

The CSC also said that the general information tests would cover the Philippine Constitution, the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees (R.A.6713), peace and human rights issues and concepts, and environment management and protection.

The examinations will be held in 36 venues nationwide. In Central Luzon, the venues include this city and Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija.

An applicant must obtain a passing grade of at least 80 percent in order to earn eligibility which is the key for a stable job in the government, the CSC said.

The requirements, as well as the application form, may be downloaded in the commission’s official website- www.csc.gov.ph.
