CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Concrete steps, at the initiative of Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, have been taken to address the problem of dangling electric and telco wires along major roads here.
Lazatin on Wednesday presided an online discussion via Zoom among representatives from the PLDT, Converge ICT, and the San Fernando Electric Light and Power Company, city engineering office chief Anele David, office of the city building official (OCBO) head Engr. Efren de Leon, and city peace and order safety coordinating office (CPOSCO) head Louie Clemente.
In the meeting, SFELAPCO volunteered to lead the ad hoc committee to address the issues while PLDT committed to replace copper wires that were left on old posts and once replaced, for SFELAPCO to proceed with the removal of the old utility posts.
SFELAPCO also asked the OCBO and CPOSCO to continue with their coordinated efforts to resolve the problems of households that encroached on electric utility posts.
Last Sept. 20, Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Architect Nestor Mangio wrote the city government expressing grave concerns over “the proliferation of messy, tangled cables, and wires hanging haphazardly as well as utility posts that lean precariously along highways and roads in the city which may cause harm and danger to motorists.” Press release
