CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has partially opened to motorists the new four-lane, 3.326-kilometer bypass road that runs along barangays Balucuc and Tabuyuc in Apalit, Pampanga.

Pampanga 1st District Engineer Almer Miranda said the construction of the P80.95 million road project that began in March was opened to motorists in August this year.

“There are still civil works that need to be done, but motorists can now use the bypass road since we have finished the concreting of its entire stretch.  We aim to complete all construction activities next month,” he furthered.

Tabuyuc and Balucuc are adjacent villages but according to residents, they have to travel more than 40 minutes via Kapalangan Road or by going around the towns of Pulilan and Calumpit in Bulacan just to get to the other barangay.

“Travel will be a lot faster and more convenient for residents and motorists once we open this bypass road. Improving road connectivity is one way to boost local economies in the different parts of the province,” Miranda stressed.

DPWH recognizes the vital role and positive impact of having a reliable road network especially in rural areas.

“This new Apalit Bypass Road will pave the way for the development not only of the two barangays but also of neighboring communities,” he said. (CLJD-PIA 3)
