Ex-barangay chair nabbed for rape

IBA, Zambales – A former barangay chairman wanted for the rape of a three-year-old was arrested by the provincial police in a sweeping operation against wanted persons on Sunday.

San Marcelino acting police chief Capt. Teddy R. Padauan said in a report that joint elements of the town police, the provincial intelligence unit, the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, 305th MC Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3, and Criminal Investigation and Detection Team arrested Angel Cabbad y Morales, 74, former barangay chairman of Lucero, San Marcelino by virtue of warrant of arrest issued by Judge Gemma Theresa B. Hilario-Logronio of RTC Branch 73, Olongapo City for the crime of rape under  Criminal Case No. 2019-74FC dated Feb. 7, 2019 with no bail recommended.

Report said Cabbad was the primary suspect in the rape of a three-year-old girl on Dec. 12, 2018 and went into hiding shortly thereafter. He is listed as most wanted person on the provincial level and also No. 1 Lambat-Sibat Target on the municipal level.

A suspect in another rape case was arrested in Palauig town also on Sunday.

Chief of police Lt. Jessu M. Rendon reported that joint operatives of the town police and 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company arrested Jerome Amog y Geraga, 22, of Barangay Liozon Suspect was arrested by virtue of warrant of arrest issued by Judge Maribel F. Mariano-Beltran of RTC Branch13, Iba, Zambales for the crime of rape per Art 266-A of the Revised Penal Code under Criminal Case No.13875-2021 dated Sept. 27, 2021 with no bail recommended.

Both suspects are now locked up in jail.
