The local government of San Fernando, thru the City Investment and Promotion Office (CIPO), has again teamed-up with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Pampanga to conduct skills training for some 20 local Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4P’s) members here.
During the face-to-face seminar and skills training on Wednesday, the beneficiaries learned handcrafting and hand weaving. They also learned how to convert recycled materials into useful items such as candy wrapper purses, plastic bags, paper baskets, and other sustainable products.
Jeff Yutuc of CIPO said the effort aims to uplift the economic status of Fernandinos vis-à-vis the Covid-19 crisis by arming them with the right mindset and basic skills.
He also said that the beneficiaries may apply for an entrepreneurial subsidy under the LGU’s Negosyo sa Barangay program to further assist them to start and develop their businesses.
The DTI also ascertained the beneficiaries of its consistent provision of entrepreneurship training, assistance in availing of the microfinancing facilities, access to start-up capital for micro-enterprises, and even facilitate business registration for those who wish to engage in business/sole proprietorship.
