SAN ANTONIO, Nueva Ecija – A 50-year-old farmer was gunned down by a village mate in front of his fellow agricultural workers in Purok 4, Barangay Sta. Barbara here at about 8 p.m. Sunday.
Police identified the victim as Benito de Luna, a resident of the said place. He succumbed to multiple bullet wounds in his body.
The suspect, identified as one Joseliro Gatos, is now the subject of a police manhunt.
Witnesses said they were working inside the Binuya compound in the village when Gatos arrived and without a word fired a handgun at least three times.
Investigators have yet to establish the motive behind the attack.
