CABANATUAN CITY — Two policemen from the city police’s drug enforcement unit were shot to death by still unidentified motorcycle riding men in Barangay Magsaysay Sur at about 10:30 p.m. Friday.
Nueva Ecija police director Col. Rhoderick Campo said PSSg Allan Capinpin and PSSg. Aries Dichoso, both of the Cabanatuan City Police Station DEU, were planning a follow-up on their “successful operation” on Thursday when the two suspects “arrived and without provocation repeatedly shot the victims.”
The two were reportedly meeting inside Capinpin’s house when the attack was made. The assailants used “short firearms,” police said.
Police said the duo earlier led a buy-bust operation that resulted to the confiscation of P652,800 worth of shabu and the arrest of three suspects in the adjacent village of Sangitan West.
“The culprits have no room in the community and averred (sic) that deeper investigation and continuous operation is in place to ensure that justice will be served to the victims and their families,” Campo said, noting troops are now conducting hot pursuit operation against the suspects.
“We will assure the families of the victims that we will leave no stone unturned to give justice to them; we will never be getting tired of weeding our communities of lawless elements,” Campo said. “In line with the directive of PRO-3 director Brig. Gen. Valeriano T. De Leon to strictly enforce Intensified Cleanliness Policy in our community.”
