CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed three infrastructure projects at the Police Regional Office 3 Headquarters.

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar led the inauguration and formal turnover of an access road with drainage flume, a new two-storey multi-purpose hall, and improved barracks inside Camp Olivas.

In his message, Villar assured the commitment of DPWH in continuously supporting the upgrade and improvement of the facilities of Philippine National Police (PNP) throughout the region.

He said the constant partnership of DPWH and Philippine National Police (PNP) through infrastructure development is aimed at helping improve the police camp’s operation and boost the morale of uniformed and non-uniformed personnel.

“In April this year, during the turnover of the two-storey modular type quarantine facility, I was given the opportunity to inspect the status of the projects being done inside the Camp by our Pampanga 1st District Engineering Office, and I can assure our police force that soon they will enjoy a more conducive working environment.  On my part, I will continue promoting the welfare of our police even if I am no longer with the DPWH because PNP is important to me, personally,” Villar emphasized.

For his part, Police Regional Director PBGen. Valeriano De Leon thanked DPWH and other stakeholders for the support.

“Words are truly not enough to express my deepest gratitude to all of you who have been instrumental in getting these projects off the ground and who have dared with us to take the frontiers of innovation and transformation. These are symbols of the best of what we can achieve together. I always say that the key to effective policing is when a real partnership exists among the government, the police and the community,” he said.

A total of P62.47 million funds were allocated for the three completed projects which were implemented by DPWH Pampanga 1st District Engineering Office.

Other projects in Central Luzon under the Tatag ng Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad program of DPWH and PNP include new municipal police station buildings in Sta. Rita, Pampanga; Macabebe, Pampanga; Orani, Bataan; Orion, Bataan; Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija; and San Miguel, Bulacan.

Also, in the pipeline is a P23.6 million Regional Crime Laboratory inside Camp Olivas. (CLJD-PIA 3)
