CABANATUAN CITY – Most  Covid-19 active cases in Nueva Ecija  stay at their respective homes for  quarantine, the province’s inter-agency task force reported Tuesday.

It cited reports from the Department of Health provincial office saying the number of active cases reached 1,215 as of Aug. 16, or an increase of 353 from Aug. 12. Reports also showed that 245 patients have recovered in the same period for a total of 11,893 recoveries while Covid-19 related deaths rose to 982 from 938.

Of the active cases, 261 patients are being monitored in different hospitals, 150 in quarantine facilities, and 804 are under strict home quarantine, the record showed.

This prompted NE-IATF chair Gov. Aurelio Umali to enjoin municipal and city health offices to convince patients to enter quarantine facilities, saying this would expedite recovery and contain the spread of virus, especially among family members.

Some health officers who joined Umali via Zoom said they preferred strict home quarantine when an entire family is already infected.

Meanwhile, in a post in its social media page, Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center, this city’s referral hospital, urged those who experience symptoms to consult first through DOH Covid-19 hotlines, and the center’s hotline and telehealth line.
