CABANATUAN CITY – Three suspected drug pushers who reportedly fired first at anti-narcotic agents were killed in successive operations in Nueva Ecija on Saturday.

Richard Enriquez, of Barangay Caalibangbangan this city, allegedly opened fire as he was being arrested for selling a sachet of shabu to an undercover policeman at around 5:15 p.m. in Barangay Talipapa, police said.

City police director Lt. Col. Julius Ceazar Manucdoc said operatives were forced to fire back and fatally hit the suspect who was in their drug watch list. Recovered from the suspect were 8.06 grams of shabu, with an estimated street value of P55,000 and a handgun.

Tommy Sagun, 48, of Barangay San Juan, Aliaga town reportedly fired a handgun towards operatives in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Concepcion, Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija after selling a sachet of shabu to an undercover policeman at about 7:20 p.m. also on Saturday.

“This prompted the police officers to defend themselves and return fire hitting  (suspect’s) body fatally,” said Major Jaime Ferrer, municipal police chief.

Forensic investigators recovered from the suspect a .38 revolver, 10 sachets of shabu worth P3,400, and other personal effects.

Later at about 9:40 p.m. in the town of Gen. Tinioo, drug suspect Edward de Belen was killed while his unidentified cohort escaped on a motorcycle after an exchange of fire with police operatives.

Police recovered from the suspect some 150 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P1,020,000.

Major Ronnie Caagbay, town police chief, said investigators also recovered the buy bust money from the suspect.
