BAGAC, Bataan — Police on Wednesday reported the arrest of a suspected drug user and confiscated from his possession illegal drugs and a handgun in a quarantine checkpoint in a village here.
Captain Michelle Agnetha Gaviola, Bagac police chief, said a 42-year-old male, resident of Abucay, Bataan was apprehended when he tried to draw his firearm while being questioned by a police officer on duty at the quarantine checkpoint in Barangay Parang.
Quarantine checkpoints were activated in various areas in Bataan after the province was placed under the modified enhanced community quarantine from June 16 to June 30, 2021.
The suspect on a motorcycle, the police chief said, was questioned for verification by Corporal Elpidio De Yro but he suddenly drew his firearm forcing the police officer to immediately react and neutralized and arrested the suspect.
Recovered from the suspect were a caliber .9mm pistol cocked and loaded with magazine with nine ammunitions and four small size heat-sealed transparent sachets of shabu upon protective search.
Gaviola said suspect faces violations of Section 11 of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Law on firearms and ammunitions).
