Business in Central Luzon continue to show optimism as the Department of Trade and Industry Regional Office III (DTI-3) have shown an upward trend in business name registrations for the first quarter of 2021.
Data from the Business Name Office of DTI-3 show that a total of 29,619 business name registrations (BNRs) were processed by the seven provincial offices and regional office of DTI-3 from January to March, 2021. This figure is 6.6% higher than the 27,773 BNRs processed in the same quarter in 2020.
Of the 29, 619 total BNRs for the first quarter of 2021, majority or 26,012 are new business name registrations, while only 3,607 are renewal of BNR. DTI Bulacan still had the most number of BNRs processed with 6,832 while DTI Pampanga had 5,051 registrations and Nueva Ecija had 4,662. The DTI Bataan provincial office processed a total of 4,235 BNRs, while Tarlac had 3,972 and Zambales processed 3,614 BNRs. Aurora had a total of 1,253 BNRs.
The new and renewed Business Name Registrations for the period are expected to generate a total of Php 5.75 Billion in investments in the region. These investments are expected to generate 49,638 new jobs in Central Luzon.
Director Leonila T. Baluyut, OIC Regional Director of DTI-3, noted that the upward tick in the number of business registrations shows the optimism and dynamism of the business sector in Central Luzon. She further noted that the sound economic fundamentals of the regional economy have helped it cope with the limitations brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.
To help entrepreneurs stay safe while registering their businesses, the DTI is recommending the continued use of its Online Business Name Registration System (BNRS), which is accessible through https://bnrs.dti.gov.ph. A helpdesk is also available for inquiries at https://bnrshelpdesk@dti.gov.ph. Payment for business name registration can also be done online via Paymaya, GCash, LandBank’s LinkBizPortal(for those with LandBank accounts) and through credit or debit cards.
