SACLEO ops yield guns, ammo

OLONGAPO CITY –— Assorted firearms and ammunitions were seized and three suspects were arrested in the simultaneous anti-criminality law enforcement operation (SACLEO) led by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Olongapo City Field Unit along with other police units in this city and Zambales province on Wednesday.

CIDG-Olongapo chief Major Kim Dominic Gamboasaid the law enforcers were serving a search warrant 2021-11 issued by RTC Branch 75 Judge Raymond C. Viray against John Cawagas y Mata, 66, of Sitio Aros, Barangay Rizal, San Marcelino town for Violation of RA 10591 when they discovered in his house several firearms and ammo of different calibers prompting the police to arrest him for possession of unlicensed firearms.

Recovered from Cawagas were: one 12gauge shotgun with serial number 256177; one .22 rifle with SN84390; one magazine for .22 rifle; 23 pieces of live ammunitions for .45; and separate 15 pieces live ammo also for .45.

In Iba, Zambales, police were also serving a search warrant, No. 2021-10, also issued by Judge Viray against Dominador Candido y Tolentino, 55, of Purok 6 Bangantalinga when a grenade, guns and ammunitions were found leading the police to arrest him.

Seized from Candido were: one .45 Colt pistol with N 051611; two magazine assemblies for .45 pistol; five live .45 ammo; one black tactical belt; one black inside holster; one rifle of undetermined caliber with SN FA 034599; one fragmentation grenade and one live ammo for a 12-gauge shotgun.

In Olongapo City, suspect Ryan Manabat, 28, of 2040 Purok 10, Barangy Upper Old Cabalan, was nabbed by virtue of alias warrant of arrest issued by RTC Branch 47 Presiding Judge Roline M. Ginez-Jabalde, for Criminal Case No. 878-12 for the crime of robbery with force against person with bail recommended P100,000.

Recovered from the suspect were: one Magnum 44 pistol marked U.S. Army Model 1917, SN 239741; and five live ammunitions for the said gun.

All suspects are now under custody of CIDGOlongapo.

Along with CIDG-Olongapo the successful SACLEO was joined in by the San Marcelino municipal police station, Zambales police investigation unit, the city police, and the city maritime police station.
