CLARK FREEPORT – The Greater Clark Visitors Bureau kicked off Thursday its advocacy for responsible use of public spaces here in the wake of recent incidents of parkgoers leaving their trash anywhere they wanted.
“Outdoor spaces and open-air fields have become popular these days. They are the people’s respite from being confined to their homes,” said GCVB president Joy L. Cruz.
Lamenting: “Sad to say, many do not know how to take care of these places. Many have left their trash in our open spaces.”
Cruz said the Keep Clark Clean advocacy is also aimed “to instill and enforce the culture of ‘CLAYGO’ among freeport visitors and residents.”
CLAYGO, she said, stands for “Clean As You Go.”
At the Picnic Grounds on Thursday, members of the GCVB were joined by artists, cyclists, students, policemen and other concerned groups in refurbishing half-drums into garbage cans painted with green themes. The garbage cans will be distributed at the different public places in the freeport.
Among those who joined in the activity were the Clark Development Corp., NLEX Corp., Clark Investors and Locators Association, the Philippine Air Force, the Mabalacat City government, Clean X, the PNP Regional Special Training Unit in Clark, the Hotel and Restaurants Association of Pampanga, TGIGreen Food, Caballero Bikers, Guhit Pinas, North Philippines Visitors Bureau, and Boysen Paints.
