CABANATUAN CITY –
Amid the quarantine restrictions in fighting the coronavirus disease pandemic, the coming of the lean months in rice production is specially difficult to farming families.

Well aware of the situation, the city government made another round of distribution of 10-kilo bag of rice to each of some 120,000 families here.

“Kung ikaw ay magsasaka, mauunawaan mo na ang panahong ito ay panahon ng paggawa sa bukid,” said Vice Mayor Julius Cesar Vergara, recalling the days when he worked in the rice fields in his younger years.

He said farmers would spend and work hard for their rice farm during planting and growing season.

Association of Barangay Councils president Christopher Lee, chair pf Barangay Pagas, said the new wave of food assistance was indeed a great help to their constituents.

Personnel of the city government, city social welfare and development and assisting agencies distributed the rice to all 89 barangays here.

“Muli po ang aming pasasalamat sa pangunguna ni mayora Myca Vergara, P.O Jay Vergara, Congresswoman Ria Vergara, Mikko Vergara, sa inyo pong pamamahagi ng ayuda,” Lee said, noting that the Vergara family also had their separate personal food assistance.

The ongoing distribution is the eleventh wave of food assistance comprising of ten-kilo sacks of rice and other food products such as canned goods, whole chicken, and vegetables, according to the city information office.
