Food and cash assistance were extended by the Department of Agriculture to 358 marginalized farmers and fisherfolk and indigenous peoples here.

With funds provided under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act, the beneficiaries each received P5,000 worth of cash and food assistance to help them in their agricultural-related activities.

“Despite having vast plantations, coconut production in Aurora has declined due to the cutting of coconut trees,” provincial agriculturist Arnold Novicio said, even as he expressed hope that the aid provided by DA will help in increasing the coconut production in the province.

Vice Gov. Christian Noveras encouraged the beneficiaries to be strong and resilient in spite of the challenges brought about by Typhoon Ulysses and the Covid-19 pandemic. Trixie Joy B. Manalili/PIA3
