BALANGA CITY — Police on Wednesday reported the arrest of two suspected illegal drug traders and the confiscation of three sachets and seven kilos of dried marijuana leaves in separate buy-bust operations in Abucay and Mariveles towns in Bataan.

Abucay police chief Major Leopoldo Estorque, Jr. said that the buy-bust operation in the town led to  the arrest Tuesday of a male suspect from Barangay West Calaguiman in Samal town.

The suspect was caught in the act of selling a sachet of dried marijuana leaves to a police poseur-buyer during the buy-bust operation in Abucay.

Protective search resulted in the confiscation of two more sachets of the same stuff and the marked money from the suspect, Estorque said.

In Mariveles, Bataan a 25-yearold student from Barangay Batangas Dos was apprehended and an estimated seven kilos of dried marijuana leaves worth about P840,000 found in his possession.

Mariveles police chief Lt. Colonel Cesar Lumiwes said that based on their investigation, the suspect got his supply of marijuana from Benguet.

He said that police operatives collared the suspect after handing to a police poseur-buyer one self-sealing bag containing suspected marijuana fruiting tops in exchange for P5,000 marked money.

Lumiwes said protective search led to the recovery of seven bricks of suspected marijuana fruiting tops of one kilo each inside suspect’s bagpack.

Drug enforcement unit operatives of the Mariveles police led by Lt. Marlon Buenaventura and Lt. Gilcerio Dizon of the Bataam police provincial office conducted the raid Tuesday in Barangay Batangas Dos.

Both buy-bust operations were coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, police said.

Police are preparing cases for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act against the suspects.

Bataan police director Col. Joel K, Tampis lauded the accomplishments of  the Abucay and Mariveles police stations.
