Two months before its target completion date of March 30, 2021, the Mexico Bridge right at the heart of the town has opened to vastly improve traffic flow in the area. The bridge is along the Olongapo-San Fernando-Gapan Road, the main thoroughfare of commerce and transport between western and eastern Central Luzon.
Closed to traffic starting Aug. 25, 2020, the old two-lane bridge has been totally replaced with four lanes under the Bridge Replacement Project of the Department of Public Works and Highways.
Leading the simple ribbon-cutting rites opening the bridge are Pampanga 3rd District Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr. and Mexico Mayor Teddy C. Tumang with Sta. Monica Parish priest Arnie Serrano presiding over the blessing. Contributed photos
