BALANGA CITY — The Bataan Police Provincial Office here on Friday reported that the crime rate in the province for the year 2020 went down to more than 50 percent compared to 2019.
Bataan police director Col. Joel Tampis said there were 169 crime incidents recorded in 2020 in comparison to 336 in 2019 that is considered as the lowest during the past five years.
He said the imposition of lockdowns and curfew as well as the liquor ban due to the coronavirus disease have contributed to the decrease in the commission of crimes, coupled by the vigilance of the police and the barangay officials.
Gov. Albert Garcia welcomed the good news and congratulated Tampis, the chiefs of police and the whole Bataan police “for job well-done”.
