CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago announced Tuesday the plan to create a technical working group that will focus on the city government’s Covid-19 vaccination, including the procurement process and prioritization of target population.
The plan came up during Santiago’s meeting with department heads of the local government unit right after a virtual special general assembly of the League of Cities of the Philippines which also tackled the roles of local authorities in the Covid-19 vaccination efforts.
Santiago tasked the city government’s financial departments to modify the city’s budget for the response to emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, including the initial purchase of vaccine, which is expected to rise to P20 million to P25 million from the earlier targeted amount of P10 million.
The group will also be responsible in identifying the priority groups or clusters to be vaccinated first as the city is targeting to inoculate more than 260,000 Fernandinos.
Santiago said the group will also study which particular vaccine the city will tap and identify personnel and facilities that will administer the vaccines.
