The city government has extended the business tax payment for the permits renewal of existing business establishments without penalties from January 20, 2021 to February 28, 2021, as Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. campaigns for programs and ordinances to help local businesses recover, being one of the hardest hit sectors because of the pandemic.

ANGELES CITY – The city government has extended the business tax payment for the permits renewal of existing business establishments without penalties from January 20, 2021 to February 28, 2021.

This, after City Councilor Atty. Arvin “Pogs” Suller, sponsored Ordinance 571, seeking for the one month and eight days payment extension.

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has strongly urged the City Council to pass the Ordinance to help local businesses recover, as they are one of the hardest hit sectors because of the pandemic.

“Isa lang ito sa mga maliit na pamamaraan, na matulungan natin ang mga kababayan nating namumuhanan para makabangon, lalo na ngayong panahon ng pandemya,” Lazatin said.

The said Ordinance, titled “Granting extension for the filing, assessment and payment of business permits without penalties or surcharges and interests until Feb. 28 as an integral part of the implementation of the public safety and health protocols in the city government due to the circumstances brought about by the pandemic COVID-19,” was unanimously approved by the City Council, led by Presiding Officer Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting.

The business taxpayers can pay from January 4, 2021, where 150 individuals will be allowed to transact inside the city hall. There will be a numbering system, similar to the recent process for the payment of Real Property Tax (RPT). This is implemented in order to observe health protocols undertaken by the city government such as social distancing.

Ordinance proponent Atty.

“We recognize their significant contributions in revitalizing our city’s economy, especially during the pandemic.”

Moreover, the Business Permit and Licensing Division (BPLD) has been regularly inspecting business establishments in the city during the pandemic, in order to ensure that safety and health protocols are being observed.

BPLD Head Evangeline Malonzo stressed the importance of conducting these regular inspections.

“Kahit gusto nating makabawi yung mga kababayan natin sa business sector, hindi pa rin dapat nawawala yung pag-iingat natin dahil may COVID-19 pa rin sa siyudad,” Malonzo said.

“We have designated teams to conduct regular inspections in various business establishments around the city,” she added.

It can be recalled that the city government has waived the P500 administrative fee for the One Town, One Product (OTOP) store to further encourage more local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to have their products featured
