‘Motornapper’ killed, P340-K shabu seized

CABANATUAN CITY – An unidentified man who allegedly, along with a cohort, took at gunpoint a tricycle from a construction worker was killed in a dragnet operation conducted by combined forces from Nueva Ecija provincial highway patrol group and city police
‘s operatives in Barangay Sumacab Este here Monday night.

His cohort, however, escaped.

Nueva Ecija police director Col. Marvin Joe Saro said operatives recovered the tricycle (AO 30137) that the duo reportedly snatched from a certain Michael Tayam, 23, resident of Barangay San Juan Accfa, also of this city.

Investigators also seized from the dead suspect a homemade .45 pistol,10 sachets of shabu with estimated weight of 50 grams with an estimated value of P340,000, jewelries and other personal belonging, police said. 

Tayam told police the suspects forcibly took the trike from him in the vicinity of St. Joseph Street, Barangay Kap. Pepe here at about 8:20 that night. This prompted the police, headed by Major Jeffrey Alivia and the Nueva Ecija Highway Patrol Team and the city police drug enforcement unit to launch the dragnet.

The operatives “chanced upon the suspect on board” the tricycle but the suspects “refused to stop when flagged down” prompting the lawmen to give chase, police said.

“When cornered, the suspect suddenly drew a short firearm and fired upon the operatives but missed. Exchange of gunfire hit the suspect fatally causing his death,” police reported.

The police are conducting follow up operations to ascertain the identity and lair of the suspect’s cohort.
