CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – A whole-of-barangay initiative in addressing the coronavirus disease pandemic was launched by the Police Regional Office-3 in San Simon, Pampanga Friday.
Deputy PNP chief for operations Lt. Gen. Cesar Hawthorne R. Binag led the ribbon-cutting rites for the Barangay Covid Defense (BaCoD) organized to cluster villages to perform specific functions relative to the Covid-19 response.
These include assistance in checking violations of minimum health protocols, security and patrol operations, security visibility in coordination with barangay councils, assistance in contract-tracing, as well as in the promotion of livelihood programs as backyard farming, vegetable gardening, and skills development among the barangay folk.
Also launched in the same event was the PNP Safe Exchange Zone which aims to provide residents with a safe location that will help reduce and deter fraudulent deals while maintaining privacy in e-commerce transactions.
“With our existing Community Mobilization Project where almost all barangays in the region are already mobilized, we are confident that BaCoD will help us in flattening the curve of Covid-19 cases while the PNP Safe Exchange Zone guarantees the safety of our consumers and sellers online,” said PRO3 director Brig. Gen. Valeriano T. De Leon. PRO3-PIO
