CABANATUAN CITY – Ricardo Linsangan, a hog raiser from Barangay Bagong Sikat here, was at a losson how to catch up after his animals were affected by the African swine fever.
Not until he was assured of compensation for the pigs that were culled as part of government efforts to contain the disease.
On Tuesday, Linsangan received from the Department of Agriculture a total of P95,000 as indemnity for his 19 hogs during the compensation distribution here.
“I am very grateful to DA since I can start a new venture aside from raising pigs,” he said, adding he can now buy carabaos for his one and a half–hectare farm where “I plant rice and vegetables.”
Linsangan was one of the 249 hog raisers who received compensation for the 3,226 pigs worth P16,130,000 here.
