ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. immediately ordered the release of P10,000 cash assistance to each to the fire victims in Barangay San Nicolas here Saturday.
“Maliit na halaga lamang po ito pero sana makatulong para makapagsimula ang mga kababayan natin,” Lazatin said.
The mayor instructed the local finance committee composed of the city budget office, the city treasurer’s office and city accounting office to immediately process the financial assistance for the 30 families as well as to the registered business owners affected by the fire.
The funds for the assistance will be taken from the Office of the City Mayor’s regular budget.
Lazatin personally went to the areas affected by fire on Saturday night and sent the medical team of the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office led by Rudy Simeon to check on the victims.
On Sunday, the city social welfare and development office headed by Edna Duaso, distributed food assistance, hygiene kits, mats, and blankets to the residents, upon the mayor’s order.
IC Calaguas, Lazatin’s chief adviser, also coordinated with business permit and licensing division chief Evangeline Malonzo to assist the affected business establishments in claiming benefits from their fire insurance provider.
