ANGELES CITY – Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting is leading by example by supporting the local products of the One Town, One Product store.
“Naniniwala ako na kapag Gawang Angeleño, dekalidad at pang-world class talaga kaya ako mismo ginagamit ko talaga yung mga produktong binebenta natin sa OTOP store,” Vega-Cabigting said.
The Vice Mayor is also the brand ambassadress of the OTOP shop.
“Proud talaga ako sa Gawang Angeleño kaya gusto kong makita ng buong mundo kung gaano kaganda yung mga produktong gawa ng mga kababayan natin,” Vega Cabigting added.
Amid the pandemic, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. urged micro small and medium enterprises (MSME) in the city to place their products in the OTOP shop.
“Hinihikayat ko ang mga Angeleños na may maliliit na business na ilagay ang mga produkto nila sa OTOP shop. Na-waive natin ang 500 registration fee ngayong pandemic para hindi na sila mahirapan,” Lazatin said.
In line with promoting “Gawang Angeleño” products, the city government is also working closely with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in providing job opportunities to the city’s residents.
Upon the instruction of Mayor Lazatin, Executive Assistant IV Reina coordinated with PESO Officer-in-Charge Rosa Teodora Basilio, City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) Joy Duaso, Angeles City Economic Development and Investments Promotion Officer (ACEDIPO) Irish Bonus-Llego, and Gender and Development (GAD) Officer Mina Cabiles to discuss the implementation of the planned livelihood programs such as tinapa-making, basket weaving, eco-bag making, bigasan, and atchara making.
“Yung mga produktong magagawa natin mula sa livelihood programs na ito, ididisplay at imamarket natin sa OTOP shop.
Na-promote na natin ang gawang Angeleño, nakapagbigay pa tayo ng trabaho sa mga kababayan natin,” Manuel said.
According to ACEDIPO OIC Irish Bonus-Llego, the city government’s livelihood programs’ beneficiaries will include Angeles City Anti-Drug Abuse Council drug surrenderees, non-working solo parents, and Persons with Disabilities (PWD).
“Sila yung mga uunahin natin na kukunin for the livelihood programs, para matulungan sila lalo na ngayong panahon ng pandemya,” Bonus-Llego explained.
