SAN MARCELINO, Zambales – A running gun battle between government forces and members of an armed group resulted to the death of a still unidentified soldier at Sitio Lumibao, Barangay Bulawen located at the eastern part of this town.
Sketchy reports from sources said that the gunfight started 5 a.m. of Friday and is still going on as of 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the boundary of this town with Floridablanca in Pampanga with the government forces in pursuit of the armed group.
A total of 192 mostly Aeta families consisting 659 individuals were reported to have been evacuated to the covered court of Barangay Aglao, some few kilometers from scene of the gun battle.
Mayor Elvis Soria personally supervised the evacuation and provided food and medicine to the evacuees.
