PALAYAN CITY – A visibly undernourished serpent eagle was given a shot of Vitamin B complex at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Wildlife Rescue Center here which will serve as its temporary home.
Joselito Blanco, chief of the DENR’s provincial environment and natural office, said the dose of B complex was to boost the bird’s appetite even as they requested the provincial veterinary office to check its total health status.
Named “Paco Roman,” after the village in the municipality of Rizal where it was captured by local farmers, the six– to eight-month–old eagle was surrendered to the PENRO by the town’s municipal planning office on Wednesday.
“Makikita sa mga paa at katawan ng agila na hindi ito lumaki sa gubat. Maaaring inaalagaan ito at nakalipad kaya nahuli sa bukid,” Blanco said.
An eagle, when fresh from the wilds, must have more firm body and even hawks stronger than Paco Roman have such characteristic, Blanco said
Paco Roman will be served meat while being taken care of, along with its three new buddies, until veterinary officials allowed its release.
“Dadalhin natin siya kung saan siya nabibilang at magagampanan niya ang role in balancing biodiversity,” Blanco said.
