Covid-19 in ‘Gapo: 15 cases recorded in one day

OLONGAPO CITY Fifteen new positive cases of Covid-19 were recorded Sunday, highest in a single day in this city since the start of the pandemic, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 60, 35 of which are active.

This was announced by city inter-agency task force chair Mayor Rolen Paulino, Jr.
The new cases resulted from the RT-PCR tests conducted on significant contact of known Covid-19 patients identified through contact tracing.

Patients number 46 and 47 are both males, asymptomatic and co-workers of Patients number 30 and 31 who were swab tested last August 7.

Also tested last August 7 was Patient number 48, male, with no travel history and a co-worker of Patient number 35. Among the significant contacts of Patient number 35 identified and tested, seven of them were positive for Covid-19.

Patient number 49, is also male, asymptomatic with travel history from Balanga City last August 4. He was in close contact with a Covid-19 patient in Bataan who died last August 3. He volunteered for RT-PCR test at a hospital in the city August 7.

Patient number 50 is the mother of Patient 42 with no known comorbidity and presently asymptomatic and in stable condition.

Patient number 51 is a 2-monthold girl, niece of Patient number 42 and in stable condition.

Patient number 52 is a 10-day old baby girl, daughter of Patient number 44, presently asymptomatic and in stable condition.

Patient number 53 is pregnant who developed fever, cough and colds last August 2. She is presently asymptomatic and in stable condition.

Patient number 54 is a male who had fever last August 1 and in stable condition. Patient number 55 is female, asymptomatic with no known comorbidity and is in stable condition.

Patient number 56 is male who developed colds last July 27 and in a stable condition.
Patient number 57 is female who had fever, sore throat,and colds last August 5 in a stable condition.

Patient number 58 is male, brother of Patient number 36, presently complaining of headache but in a stable condition.

Patient number 59 is another brother of Patient number 36, presently  asymptomatic and in stable condition.

Patient number 60 is female who complained of fever last August 4 which resolved spontaneously. She is presently asymptomatic and in stable condition.

Intensified contact tracing of the persons in close contact with these patients are being undertaken by the city health office. As a precaution, these close contactare required to undergo 14day home quarantine during which they will be regularly monitored, and individuals who underwent swabbing for RT-PCR test must undergo strict home quarantine too, Paulino said.
